Whistleblower Protection Policy
1. Purpose
Ascend GRC is committed to promoting integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct. This Whistleblower Protection Policy provides a framework for reporting misconduct and ensures protection for individuals who disclose wrongdoing in good faith. The policy complies with the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) governance standards.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all employees, board members, contractors, volunteers, and external stakeholders who report suspected misconduct relating to Ascend GRC.
3. Definitions
Whistleblower: A person who reports misconduct in good faith.
Misconduct: Includes fraud, corruption, bribery, financial irregularities, breaches of law, unethical behaviour, or any conduct that poses a risk to public safety or organisational integrity.
Detrimental Conduct: Any retaliation, harassment, or adverse action taken against a whistleblower due to their report.

6. Whistleblower Protections
Confidentiality: Whistleblower identities will be kept confidential unless legally required to be disclosed.
Immunity from Legal & Disciplinary Action: Whistleblowers are protected from civil, criminal, or administrative liability related to their disclosure.
Protection from Retaliation: Any detrimental conduct against a whistleblower may result in disciplinary or legal action.
7. Investigation Process
Acknowledgment: Reports will be acknowledged within five business days.
Assessment: An initial review will determine whether a formal investigation is required.
Investigation: Conducted impartially, with findings reported to the Board of Directors.
Outcome & Resolution: Appropriate corrective actions will be taken, and whistleblowers will be informed of the resolution where possible.
8. Compliance & Enforcement
Failure to comply with this policy, including retaliatory actions against whistleblowers, may result in disciplinary action or legal consequences.
