Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Policy
1. Purpose
Ascend GRC is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, contractors, volunteers, and visitors. This policy outlines our approach to workplace health and safety (WHS) in compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth) and relevant Australian standards.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all Ascend GRC employees, board members, contractors, volunteers, and visitors at all work sites, including offices, remote work locations, and event venues.
3. Definitions
Workplace Health & Safety (WHS): Measures and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Hazard: A potential source of harm or adverse health effects.
Incident: Any event that causes or has the potential to cause injury, illness, or damage.
Risk Assessment: The process of identifying hazards, assessing risks, and implementing controls.
4. Policy Statement
Ascend GRC is dedicated to:
Providing a Safe Workplace – Identifying and mitigating health and safety risks.
Compliance with WHS Laws – Adhering to legal and regulatory safety obligations.
Employee Well-being – Supporting physical and mental health initiatives.
Training & Awareness – Ensuring all employees understand WHS responsibilities.
Incident Reporting & Investigation – Establishing clear procedures for hazard reporting and response.
5. Responsibilities
Board of Directors: Ensure WHS governance and allocate necessary resources.
Executive Management: Implement safety policies and monitor compliance.
Employees & Contractors: Follow WHS policies, report hazards, and participate in safety training.
WHS Officer: Oversee risk assessments, safety audits, and compliance initiatives.
6. Risk Management & Control Measures
Conduct regular workplace safety assessments and hazard identification.
Implement control measures to eliminate or mitigate risks.
Provide personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
Maintain emergency procedures and first aid readiness.
Ensure ergonomic and psychological safety considerations.
7. Incident Reporting & Investigation
All workplace incidents must be reported immediately to the WHS Officer.
Investigations will be conducted to determine root causes and preventive measures.
Corrective actions will be implemented to prevent recurrence.
8. Compliance & Enforcement
Non-compliance with this policy may result in disciplinary action.
Regular audits and safety drills will be conducted to ensure adherence.
